Email Deliverability: Suppression List

Purpose: This guide explains the different types of bounces that can place contacts on the suppression list, how the suppression list functions, and what actions can be taken when contacts are added to it

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Suppression lists are an essential tool in Kizen, designed to help you manage email communication effectively by preventing emails from being sent to contacts with deliverability issues or compliance concerns. When a contact is added to a Suppression List, they will no longer receive any emails - whether these emails are sent individually, in bulk, or through an automation

Tip: To view contacts Email Status, use Contact Groups. For more information on email status options see this article

Suppression List: Hard Bounce

The contact will be placed on a Suppression List permanently as a result of a spam compliant or invalid email address - this is considered a "hard bounce". The contact will no longer be emailed via Kizen.

Suppression List: Soft Bounce

A soft bounce occurs when an email cannot be delivered to a contact due to temporary issues - a full inbox, or an out-of-office (OOO) responder.

When an email soft bounces twice for a specific contact, Kizen temporarily adds them to the Suppression List. The process is as follows:

1. After two soft bounces, the contact is suppressed for 14 days

2. After 14 days, the contact is automatically removed from the suppression list, and Kizen attempts to send emails again

3. If soft bounce occurs once again, the contact is re-added to the Suppression List

Hint: Moving contacts out of the Suppression designation manually is not available. Reach out to Kizen Support for assistance
